IEC President and Optometrist present new lens technology at International Vision Expo in New York

Ken Mueller, International Eyecare Center Optometrist and Teresa Carter, President of IEC, recently attended International Vision Expo and Conference at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City. Mueller and Carter were presenters of the the new atLast! Enhanced Multifocal lens for PixelOptics. atLast! is a composite lens that gives bifocal wearers intermediate vision with a blend of advanced lens technologies.

Pixel Optics the world's first composite lens company launched atLast!, their first product offering in October 2008. IEC offices have successfully dispensed the new composite lens to patients since October. During the expo, Pixel Optics introduced the world's first electronic lens--one that changes power from distance to near, by virtue of a battery-powered current through the lens. The technology will be available to the public and IEC offices in 2010.

During the three-day continuing education conference, Dr. Mueller attended seminars regarding the ocular effects of systemic medicine and new treatments for age-related macular degeneration. Dr. Mueller and Carter also met with vendors to view the latest technology in ophthalmic equipment, contact lenses, pharmaceuticals and eyewear fashions from all over the world.

Dr. Mueller joined IEC in 1990 and opened the Hannibal location, which is located at 210 Steamboat Bend. Teresa Carter joined IEC in 1985 and is Certified as an optician, Contact Lens Technician and Laser Technician. She is a Licensed Practical Nurse.
